Arrow Weight ?

Is running a heavier broadhead the best way to add weight to my arrows? How much will it change the flight? Right now my arrows fly like darts at 502 grains.Shooting 50# at 28 and my draw length is at 27. Looking to add weight to see if it helps quiet the bow down some more.

That's too bad.  Darts only go eight feet at 100 fps or so in a big arc.  Pretty lousy performance.      

Answer is it depends.  You want the arrow to fly well out of you bow.  Typically the head brings the center of gravity ahead of the center point of the arrow's length.  But we have fletching that gives stability so there is a point of diminishing returns.  You never see a target bow shooting heavy heads.  They are minimal tips.  But those archers are using a VERY well spined arrow match with their bow and form.

I shoot 125 gr heads but use Douglas Fir arrows, so the weight is 580 to 620 grains.  Weight forward helps penetration (as does tapering the shaft).  But getting good flight is as valuable as a lot of weight forward.  The arrow's mass is what it is whether it's concentrated way up front or somewhet further back.

Adding weight to the front of the arrow usually improves arrow flight, until a point when it takes the arrow out of tune with the bow.  That being said, you have a very good set up as is.  Might look to other things to quiet the bow -- different string material, different silencers or placement of them, slightly higher brace height, etc.
