Bow length choice

Hi guys!. I shot R/D longbow for about two years. As my draw length is only 26.5 inches(from nock to the front of riser), I usually choose a 58" or 60" bow. Recently, I'm very interested in hill style bows. I wonder what bow length should I choose? 64" or 66"? Thank you.

You could do either but I think you'd enjoy 66" the most. It's only 2".

Do you shoot from a treestand or a blind?
I shoot a 70" bama bows tribute. From the ground I have had no problems. Though I do hunt AZ areas.

Thank you AZ, I never shoot from a treestand, but I'm only 5 feet 4 inches tall. Is that a matter?

Thanks Nineworlds9. I used to shoot a 66 inches toelke whip from my friend. Feel like can not draw the bow very well. I don't know How different of draw feeling between RD longbow and Hill style longbow?

Do you mean to the back of the riser?  If it's to the front/belly side of the riser, you have a 28-inch draw.  I'll assume it's the former, i.e., to the back of the riser.  At that draw length, and at your height, a 64-inch Hill style bow will work well.

In Hill style bows, with my 26" draw I like a 66".

Just for consideration, and not knowing how you shoot now, you may want to add a little more bend to your arm which would shorten your draw a touch more with a good heeled grip on a Hill Bow.

My bud has a 25.5 inch draw and likes the 64 inch over the 66.  I have a 28 inch draw and like the 66 inch.

I have a sorter draw than you do, but I like the smoothness of draw found in longer bows. My preference is 68". I hunt most commonly from elevated stands. It is not too difficult to get the hang of shooting a long bow out of a tree stand, but you will need to specifically pay attention to your lower limb so that it doesn't hit the stand.

Not all that difficult to get someone to make you a bow that is 65 inches long...I have a feeling Mike Mecredy from Maddog would do that for you

at your height and draw...I would think a 64" bow would give you best of maneuverability, performance, smoothness while still using full potential of the bow limbs.

id say get a few long wooden dowwels cut them to the lengths you are thinking of and try moving them around like you would for shooting and hunting.
the longer you go the more you may have to cant the bow to the side.

Thank you guys! I think 64 inches may be the best length for me. I'll try a hill style longbow next spring.
