I was in my closet last week and saw my bow in there. Hadn't thought about it in a long time. Too long.
I took it out and looked it over. It's a 60" recurve made for me by Jeffrey Archery, pulling 54#.
I don't remember how it was relegated to the closet, or really how long ago. I guess sometimes things just happen. We get wrapped around the axle with this clutter we call life and things fall to the side.
Well, whatever the reason, it's back out now. Later the same day that it called to me (what other explanation could there be?), I went to the book store at the mall and picked up a copy of Traditional Bowhunter magazine. It just seemed like the thing to do. Good reading, and a lot of ads to check out.
I got online and searched for clubs. The nearest archery club I found is about an hour up the road. I posted on their FB page, and was invited to come to a shoot on 6 February. That's now on my schedule.
I picked up a target, so now I'll see if I can revive enough motor memory to hit the proverbial broad side of a standard barn in the next couple of weeks. My expectations are for this to be for fun, not competition. Besides, my style is to compete against myself.
It's good to be back.
