Headed to Monterey, CA in a few months

My wife was accepted to the Naval Postgraduate School this summer, so we are headed to Monterey, CA. It looks like there is some good hunting nearby. Are there any 'gangers in that area that can shed some light on the opportunities nearby? Thanks for any information you care to share.

Longbow Safari in Ranch Neblino on 4 July. You can meet many trad guys there. Tons in OR, WA, ID too I am also a retired Jarhead and reside in Reno, Nv MCMWTC on Sonora pass is a place to check in to the Q and fish and hike in the Sierras. Not too far from where you'll be. Expensive here compared to NC
Much of CA is a draw state for select areas. Ft hunter liggit has hog and deer. Lots of turkeys in some areas
Just have to work into it
Luck to your bride, and congrats

Fort Hunter Liggett has pig hunting. Further south at Tejon Ranch there is pig hunting and deer hunting. There are various opportunities for pig hunting on various private farms throughout the Central Valley. There is deer hunting throughout the mountain ranges of California, but you will have a lot of competition.

I'm up in Lakeport California through the summer and was wondering the same thing. I'm going through withdrawals not being able to shoot every day!

Nice area.. I can't speak of the hunting but I worked out there in the mid 90's. Check out the Hog's Breath. I believe it's still owned by Clint Eastwood.. Good restaurant.

Jarhead, if you are 60% you get a resident license at reduced price or free. Bring your VA validation and you have to go to the G and F office. If I have my regs inthe truck, I will quote you chapter and verse. Know this for sure: CA ain't NC! Been to both.
