My 2015 Season Results/Pictures, Share yours too
« on: January 23, 2016, 04:20:00 PM »
I shot this nice doe back in late Sept. All my hunts this season either had to be mid day or weekend due to my work schedule. I guess I should be glad I've got a job but it sure gets in the way of my woods time.

I had some exciting hunts in Oct. and some close calls with a few nice ones but didn't connect. Then on Nov.9th I got this guy's picture. Not a monster by any stretch, but good enough for around our place.

Same boat as you, work is overwhelming. Season was over before I knew it.
Snuck out a few times and was lucky enough to take this guy. Lot of fun with my 12 year old son after the deer was down. He could not contain himself as my wife drove him to our hunting spot to meet me.
"DONT TOUCH THAT DEER TILL I GET THERE" He said.
Classic!

On Nov.11th I couldn't take it, I had to be in the woods with the rut going on. I grabbed my hand climber and was off to hunt the mid day before I had to go for work. I ended up shooting the buck in the trail camera pic's at 1:00PM. This is the first mid day deer I've ever shot, never really hunted that time of day much.

He was chasing a hot doe and chased her past me a few times at a dead run. I didn't think I'd see them again or get a shot opportunity but as luck was on my side I heard them coming my way and got ready. The doe blew past me, then the buck for some reason slammed on the breaks as he got to about 23 yards and the arrow was away.

This ended up being the only weekday I didn't work in 2015. The guy I work with was able to cover for me on real short notice. That was a good thing because it ended up being a unique track job.

My brother came over to help and took this picture after I pulled him to the bank.

My flash light hit something in the river and I told my brother, hey that looks like antler sticking up. We found him in the river in about 2' of water. The only thing sticking out of the water was one side of his rack. Last blood to where we found him in the river was a good ways down stream. If this had been a doe I don't think we could have found her. At least not in the pitch black dark.

I'm already dreaming of September      :bigsmyl:

YORNOC it would make for a better post if everyone who wanted to share would join in, I'll edit the tittle. It's all good YORNOC and nice buck.

I should have used the pictures with my kids. Like yours they sure do get excited when the old man drags something in.

Hahahahaha...it's sad, but that "picture" sums up my season too. Well, that's not totally true, I did kill a squirrel early.

3 years ago I made my first glass long bow. I got a doe with it two years ago. Last year I never got a shot. This year I had another shot present it's self. When the distance closed to about 20 yards I knew the next step would start increasing the distance as he would be heading the other way from my stand. My 44# Pac a wallop sent the Douglas Fir shaft with 165gr Ace Straight Razor on it's way. And shwack!

With the doe I killed 2 years ago my arrow got snapped in half. With this buck my arrow was ready to go after washing it off and resharpening the head with my file. I would love to get another one with the same arrow.

That doe with the Pac a wallop was great. Getting a buck with my own bow & arrow is twice as satisfying. I was hunting public land as that is all I have to hunt.

Bisch, you do keep plenty of arrows In the air!

No big game for me with bow, but a dab of black powder put a doe in the freezer.

I like bunnies!
