Question on Georgia game laws
« on: October 18, 2007, 09:03:00 PM »
Hope some of the Georgia gang can help me out.

DNR hunting regs have deer hides and tails from squirrel and deer are legal, but no mention on turkey feathers.

Can a person sell or buy wildturkey feathers in that state? You guys do use natural bar wing feathers for fleching don't ya.

Hello Brian, when I use to "stays" in Ga, the answer was No. ...BUT....I saw vendors selling them at Trad.Shoots..A DNR officer told me that I couldn't just sell bulk wild feathers but for example I could sell a pencil for $5 and you get a dozen feathers Free.!!!.....Probably 99% of guys using natural feathers in Ga ,other than ones that made them, are buying them from out of state.. Traditional Shops have gone by the wayside. I would be surprised if there is a dozen full lenght natural barred feathers sitting in a shop somewhere in Ga for sell...However you probably should call the DNR in Social Circle for an official answer.

Thanks for the info joebuck, but it's a big letdown. I has entertaining the ideal of going to the NWTF conferance show in Atlanta 2008 to sale some art work. I do my paintings on turkey feathers so I guess it's ilegal in Georgia to sale them there.

Anybody from Georgia got a ideal ??

BKA, they have had the banquet there before and I'm thinking if you add value to them in form of artwork, it's ok..but bulk raw feathers would be no....I'll be there, I'm entering a homemade call in the Long Box division. I have some violin grade stuff I'm pumped about it...Call the DNR....i bet you can sell them with artwork on it.
