quivers
« on: February 21, 2016, 03:02:00 PM »
I am about to purchase a quiver for new tall tines , i have never shoot with one attached to bow always used selway hip quiver with belt over my shoulder and would hang it in tree once in stand. I am curious if most prefer the slide on limbs or strap on limbs for both convenience and stability. Also a quiver with deep enough pocket so as to completely protect and cover broad heads.

Part of the answer depends on whether you plan on hunting with the quiver on the bow or not. It is really all personal preference, but if you still intend to take the quiver off the bow once on stand, then you have to go with the strap-on models so you have an easy on/off.

Is your bow a take down? If so check out the new great northern quick mount detachable. It will be my next quiver purchase. I have a Great northern standard limb bolt quiver on my Tall Tines and like it.  I also have a little 4 arrow strap on kanati that I really like. Very light and tight to the bow.  Hope this helps.  JOHN

I like the extra weight a bow quiver adds.  Makes for a bit steadier hold and quieter at release.  I never take the bow quiver off the bow while hunting/on stand.

I don't like slide on or straps. I don't like the clunky look of the slide on so I haven't tried one. I've tried a strap on a couple of years ago and didn't like it.

I love the Great Northern limb bolt quick detach systems. I take the quiver off and hang on a hook when I arrive on stand.

I do like strap on bow quivers a lot, better then slide on imo. I agree about them adding stability and reducing felt shock. However, on my longbow, i want as light of a quiver as possible. So, i like a 3 arrow quiver, as i have no need for carrying more then that deer hunting. I am sold on the Eagles Flight 3 arrow Big Cheif. It holds and fully protects even the big 3" grizzly Kodiaks...the best part is, it is extremely light weight so as to not add too much weight and ends up being just right.

I really love my old German Ridge spring arm quiver - on and off in a second.

Bow Quivers are very convenient. Our (EFA) quivers are deliberately light weight and should not affect how the bow shoots except maybe in a positive way. Often someone will say that their bow is quieter with the quiver on it. Others say that their bow is more stable and that they are shooting a smaller group. Personally I think that most bows performance is improved with some quivers. Conversely, some heavier quivers will require retuning the bow, and should be left on the bow throughout the season.
