Benefits of a long riser?

Can somebody explain to me the benefit of a long riser ? Is it just more mass weight or is there more to it than that? I'm not talking super long just say the difference between a 14" and a 17" riser. Thank you for your time.

For me, it is the longer sight window. Idk if there are any other benefits, but after having one with a longer sight window, I have a hard time with the shorter risers with real small sight windows.

My impression is that a long riser and relatively shorter limbs results in higher velocities for lighter weight target arrows than an otherwise equal bow of the same overall length with shorter riser and relatively longer limbs. OTOH, the longer limbed bow, other things being equal, will cast a heavier arrow farther than the shorter limbed bow.
I haven't tested these things, so I'm not sure I'm correct. However, the concept seems plausible to me.

For me it is an issue of balance. I select limb length for my draw length and riser length for balance and feel. A longer riser does give you less string angle at full draw if finger pinch is an issue.
I keep coming back to a 15" Morrison as it just feels better to me even though with medium limbs I only get a 58" bow. I shoot three under and high anchor so I don't need the long sight window

a longer riser adds mass and lessens oscillations/ pitch&roll of the bow making it inherently more accurate at longer distances. takes more shooter input/error to upset the stability of the bow. to this is why Oly bows have 25" risers.
