This is what I favor on most of my hunts, stuff I have come to trust over the years to get the job done. I'm leaving for Wisconsin in the morning and this stuff is what I'll carry/wear primarily

*Osage bow,(this one is "Natchez" made by David Mims 41#@27" )tough, dependable, and beautiful
*River cane arrow w/turkey fletch and 2 bladed head,(natures carbon with natures best fletch and best penetrating head
*Small 3 cornered stool (weighs nothing and I can sit for a few hours in relative comfort)carried over the shoulder with a leather thong,
*Rubber boots with felt insoles (easy to take on and off and wash the mud and blood off of)
* Plaid wool flannel shirt (warm, quiet, blends well)
* Small neck knife (this ones has a Helle blade, mesquite handle)
* Rayovac headlamp, fits in a pocket and suprisingly bright..3 lights red, white LED and white regular beam. Lasts a long time on a couple AA batteries
* My old camo headnet, Dianne sewed this up for me maybe 20 years ago I've and killed a lot of critters while wearing it. Has lots of holes now, need to sew a new one
* Well worn dmascus glove...been shooting this one about 5 years or so, deerskin, nice and soft
* Flannel lined Kakki cargo pants (or brown flannel lined denim jeans (if it's cold)..comfortable and lots of pockets

ohh and forgot it in the picture but I usually wear a Lands End turtleneck under the flannel.

Mickey, a gal at Sagamore Farm gave me a plaid shirt JUST like that one, it was a Woolrich, in 1978 or thereabouts. I wore it out, finally, after reinforcing the cuffs and elbows with suede, restitching around buttonholes to tighten them up, and everything else that I could think of to keep it on this side of the Great Divide. I am trying to remember when I stopped wearing it, likely around '99 or 2000. I even forget if I still have it. If I threw it out, I would have been sorrowful enough that I would try to blot out the memory. It may be lying in peaceful repose in a bag in my closet. Next to the blue jeans I bought when I was fourteen.

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

My favorites include:
1. My "lucky" Elmer Fud hunting hat bought in Kansas on a whitetail hunt 5 or 6 years ago.
2. A Packs Plus monster fanny pack that I've used on most of my walking hunts(moose, caribou, elk).
3. A bright orange Browning flashlight that always works and is almost a mini Q-beam.
4. My plain jane PJ Tomes skinner that skinned and cut up 4 caribou, 2 bears, 2 whitetails, and a hog before it would not shave hair off my arm.
5. A Black Widow calfskin tab(with several back ups)
6. My Olympus pocket digital camera that has taken all of my hunt snapshots.
I could go on and on but these are the things I never leave home without.

Jon
