Tillering for three under

Thinking of ordering a new recurve. My question is if I say "tiller for 3 under" will it affect shooting the bow split finger?
I knew I can adjust BH and nock point but wondering if it will have an adverse effect on preformance of bow.

Interesting question.  If a person knows he is going to be shooting a bow split or 3 under, then he should order it that way.  If a person wants the option to shoot it either way, would it be best to order it tillered split or 3 under?  I'll be interested to see what people have to say about this.

Some people will say it doesn't matter, but until bowyers stop tillering bows differently for 3 under and split, I think it matters enough to at least try to make the right choice.

I shoot three under and have two ILF bows that I have tillered even for shooting three under. I have two Toelke bows tillered for three under. I also have two bows I bought that were tillered for split finger. Once I have the nocking point set, I don't see much difference in how any of the bows shoot. I shoot split finger bows well. I would imagine that a split finger shooter would shoot my three under bows well once the nocking point was lowered a fraction.

I can speak only for our bows but I would recommend it be tillered even for 3U and if you shoot split it will still be fine.

The difference with shooting 3U on a bow tillered positive for split is it is usually noisy.  But the other way is fine.

I agree with Mike. I tiller all my personal bows dead even and shoot split finger with no problem. When I want to sell one it can be shot three under and will still shoot great split finger.
It may differ from bowyer to bowyer but I like dead even. If the person is dyed in the wool split I usually go from 1/16 to 1/8 plus depending on when the bow is just right for quietness and vibration.

The only thing it changes is where your nock ends up , this from a very well respected bowyer
