I also use Jerry's Method. You'll quickly understand why. At first the line comes out and feels a little rough, not hard or anything like that, but definitely not as smooth as it will after you pull out a couple hundred feet.
A real easy way to do it is put it on your arrow and shoot a little lob shot, then check to see how smooth is comes out. Be sure to pick up your line afterwards!
