Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

First time I ever heard of or saw one of those.

Is this something you would use for setting permanent or long term stands?

As did our ancestors, I have come down out of the trees.   :)     I was way overdue for a fall!   :scared:

I have a couple of them laying around that I got from Jerry Simmons. I never could really get the hang of using them. It seemed like a accident waiting to happen if not careful to me.

Used them for 20 years. A linemans belt 12 bolts and a loc on and you can sit most any tree. RC

I started using one after reading RC and Warren Womack post 2 years ago. You can't beat'em. With a light hang-on, you can go anywhere and be totally mobile and stealthy.

You can drill the tree right before hunting season and the holes will stay open through the season because the trees are in their dormant stage.  During the spring and summer they will "heal" and holes will close back up.  If you want to drill it the following year, drill new hole about three inches away.  Do not drill same hole, the tree is still soft there and it will not drill.

EZcut also sells a bit for a cordless drill.  You can drill a bunch of trees just prior to season on well known travel routes.  Use the hand drill for more mobile sets.  Oh, bolts NEED TO BE grade 8 bolts for strength.  I also coat the part of the bolt that sticks out the tree with a plastic coating that you dip tool handles.  I think it's called plasti-dip

Warren's video is the classic. He could drill both right and left handed...takes a bit of dexterity if I remember correctly.

Best to check with your state hunting laws and definately the landowner before drilling a bunch of random holes in otherwise healthy trees.  Aside from the legal side your not doing the trees any favors.

It's all I ever use. Once you get the system down its the easiest way to climb a tree.  It's especially good if you use the tree more than once a season because you can use the same holes all season.  I had a local machinist make me and some buddies a few for 25 dollars each and then we bought the drill assemblies from ezcut for 30 bucks.  The bit holder they sell is not very strudy but the drill bit works fine.
