Top Hat Insert-Outsert

Has anyone tried the 9/32>5/16 Top Hat Insert-Outsert for the Easton Axis and FMJ? They look To be very useful and they promise To make the arrow more durable.
I am interested in a hunting scenario the benefits.

waiting for some reports also.  I understand VPA is also making an outsert for the FMJ

I shoot FMJ's, and can't imagine why I would need an outsert????? I stump shoot and hunt with my FMJ's, and have had zero issues at the point end of my arrows with the brass HIT inserts.

One reason could be that most field points will be flush plus it looks To be a very though sistem. Maybe I am wrong but something To try

Felix, there is always more stuff to try if you have a hankering to do so! I use 9/32" field points on my FMJ's, and they work fine, even out of bag targets. The problen with field points is, if you shoot heavier than 150gr, then you have to go with a larger diameter, and those larger diameter points are horrible for pulling out of targets.

So, I guess I have to change my statement from above. If you need heavier points than 150gr, I can see a good use for the outserts!

Bish, I use 250-300 grains. Our Wild Boar are though I need heavy equipment.

I have been experimenting with the footing  system that Vintage Archery sells and so far so good, but I would like to see responses to your questions also.... Besides Bisch boo hoo-ing the  need for them

I have 225gr up front, I just get there with a 75gr insert and a 150gr point/broadhead!

And, I have no doubts that your boars are tough. I have seen pics of European boars and they are no slouches. I don't shoot the big ones unless they have big teeth, or (of course) unless they come in by themselves!!!       They are not near as good eating as sows and smaller pigs.

They are not bad it depends how you fiel dress them,remember that the boars have the pituitary gland in front of the penis just in the center of the body where the knife just cut for cleaning if you cut that gland the meat is unusable.

They are a junk product even the steel ones if you plan hunting and stumping
first they fit a little loose and need epoxy gluing to fill the little play with the shaft. Second they flex at any hard impact even with medium bow. I tried them with 60+ bow at long draw and had nothing but bad experience: insert coming out, insert flexing.... My hunting mate is shooting 54# at 26" and had same experience.
Other than that, for soft foam shooting they may be ok

I would email firenock and see if they have one to fit. Read good things about the aero insert.

I've tried them for several month with 53#@31".
My practical knowledge is:

yes, they prevent arrow bursting at the front.
But the energy has to be dissipated somehow, so my arrows burst at the other end where the nock is.
With 40#31"  that does not happen, or only very rarely.

So I thing they works for moderate poundage up to 45# depending on bowdesign and the draw lenght.

For 50# and up to ..... it is not worth to buy.
