Tillered for 3 under but shooting split?
« on: April 15, 2016, 05:00:00 PM »
Are there any disadvantages to shooting a bow split finger when the bow is tillered specifically for a 3 under release?

I've read that if tillered for split and shooting 3 under there is  no affect other than noise and most likely raising the nocking point.

But what about the converse?  Are there disadvantages to shooting a 3 under tillered bow with split fingers?

I don't know a lot about this but everything i have heard has said it's no biggie slight drop in performance. Aka not reaching bow full potential. Haven't heard about more noise. Again i don't know much
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

Actually this is a good subject.  I have found that the bow will shoot great tillered even and shot with split.  Much better then tillered for split and shot 3 under.

I have my Hoyt Excel tiller even. I shoot split finger. IMO it makes more noise trying to shoot 3 under on a bow tillered for split. At least on m y Bear TD it did. I know you can super tune a bow that is adjustable but I am not that good anyway.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I shoot split and actually shoot better with my bows tillered for 3-under. All of my bows are tillered even.

Mike I have found the same, why do you suppose this is so and why has 1/8+ been done for so long?

Had a Widow that was tilered for 3 under but I shot it split. It shot great. Often wish I had it back but sold it because it was a few lbs on the heavy side for me. I always thought it was just that bow, the above post make me wonder.

I agree with Bisch.  I have one of my Tall Tines tillered for three under and I shoot split. No problem at all.

My 60" longbow is tillered even and shoots MUCH better split finger. Lots quieter too. Not sure why that is but I don't mind it.

Ummm. I turned down a very nice Black Widow PCH because I shoot split and it was tillered for three under now I'm thinking I may have screwed up.
