Pain in draw hand?

Has anyone developed pain in their draw hand?
I took a month off of shooting and then went out, 5 arrows later and the back of my draw hand is killing me.
I'm going to get it checked out but just wondering if anyone else has had a problem.
If so what was the remedy?
I'm only 46 but maybe arthritis from a lifetime of shooting has taken a toll.
I had to resort to a damn wheel bow just to be able to sling arrows, I think Tradbow is on the back burner for a little while...this sucks.

The first question I would ask is "Are you shooting off your finger tips, or with a deep hook?"
If you are shooting off your finger pads, your hand is full of tension with the force of the string working on a long lever (your fingers) against the muscles holding your fingers perpendicular to your hand. If you are shooting with a deep hook, the muscle tension is just enough to keep your fingers curled and the string tension is transmitted more up your arm, with your hand relaxed.

Ditto what Bladepeek posted. A cupped hand will cause that kind of pain and also a very inconsistent release.

Yes I am shooting off my fingertips.
Guess I'll try a deep hook and see if that helps.
