Gold tip traditional shafts

I have been shooting the Easton axis arrows for the last couple of years. I really like them but the price has me thinking of other options. How do you guys like the goldtip traditionals? How do they hold up? How are they spined compared to the axis.The gpi is about the same as the regular axis arrows. Im shooting my tall tines 49@28

They are in the good category for me. I prefer the Carbon Express shafts (more gpi and are more durable, also like the nocks better). You will be able to make a .500 or .600 work at those specs as I believe your TT is cut past center.

The shafts to keep an eye out for will be the Gold Tip traditional classics. They're smaller diameter like the axis, high GPI (11 in .400 spine), and have an outsert and ballistic collar for durability. I've already got an order in for some and can let you know how they really pan out when they come in. The regular gold tips are good shafts. Carbon Express arrows I think are better quality, but they don't offer a CX made brass insert for them like I prefer and the GT one doesn't fit them. I usually will run a Beman (Easton) Camo Hunter to get around that. They have good GPI and any S nock easton shaft will accept the GT 100 brass insert.

I have no experience with the GT Traditioanals, but if they are like the XT Hunter or Expedition Hunter shafts (which I have extensive experience with), they will not be nearly as consistent in spine as the Axis shafts are. That inconsistency is the reason I switched from GT to Axis FMJ's!

I shoot 47-51 lb recurves and use the GT traditional and CE Heritage - I draw 28" and the GT get a little close with 225 up front (400 spine)- meaning too short, the CE 250's give me another 1/2" of room on the length which I like.
I too like the CE better and just pennies more per shaft.

My GT have proven durable and fly better than I shoot. No rocks in coastal Ms. so they get lost before broken. Gonna pick up some more this weekend at H. Hill shoot. The blems are an excellent value. Hope to try some CE one day from what I've heard they're the toughest on the market.

Thanks guys. The local archery shop usually carries the CE shafts. I think I will swing buy and pick up a couple to try.

I like them, they are inexpensive and plenty tough for what I do. I usually get the blems from BigJim..I suppose in the grand scheme of things arrow price shouldn't really matter because I seldom need to buy any but it's still nice to save a little money...BeauJ

Take a look at the Easton Aftermaths.
They are a 9/16" diameter so they still take a standard style insert.  They are very durable as well due to smaller diameter, but still able to put lots of helical and 5" feathers.  They have a highly polished finish so are nice to pull.  I find GoldTips harder to pull from targets than these.  For the money I find them hard to beat.

Have you thought about aluminums?
If you want a heavier arrow and cheap....
I also find that Easton aluminums are far more consistent in spine and straightness than any carbon.  Aluminum also offers lot more spine options.  For me they also seem easier to tune.
I have been shooting XX75 2213s lately more and more.

Wheels2, funny you should mention that--I have found myself shooting my aluminums much more lately too.  Forgot how nicely they shoot.

I have shot the black GT's for many years.  Tried the traditional shafts, but could not get them to fly nearly as good.  Don't know if the covering changed the spine or what???  Anyway I went back to the black shafts 75 - 95's as I shoot a long draw and 70 lb recurve.  Finally sold the traditional shafts to someone else.
