color & number of fletching

I read that Paul Shafer tried different numbers of fletching on his arrows. I have a Bitzenburger and my arrows fly very well. I use one color for the cock feather and 2 others colors for the other two. Read somewhere that it will "appear" that your arrow wobbles due to the color variation but I cut through paper just fine. I need that cock feather a different color for me to find when I see the critter I am after appears. I can't just use that nub on the classic nock. Does the Bitz. allow me to 4 fletch ( I know more drag) and if it does can I than just knock the arrow and not care about the cock feather. I have shot with the cock feather the other way and it shot fine but,... I also use the cock feather as an anchor.

Yes, you could use the bitz for 4 fletch,either 90 degrees or 75x105 degrees  and twist the nock to your desired orientation.

that is one advantage of 4 fletch.  You can knock it from both directions. Fellows that don't seem to loose arrows like it because you can get more use from them before the feathers get badly frayed....and the increased drag is surprisingly little..just go from 4.5 in feather length too a 4 or 3.5, its also nice because you can always get two fletchings from a full length feather using a 4" fletch. Regardless, I wouldn't say one out performs the other.

I fletch my arrows with 4- 5 1/2 high back shields. I notice no difference in flight or noise from 3 fletch...except the arrows seem more stabile.

I use a bitz. 4 all white 4" shield cut at 105/75. With practice ive gotten to where i dont even to look to nock an arrow.

I've been using 4, 5" fletching for years and have had no problem with them. I chose them because I hunt where it is very thick, things happen fast, and I don't want to have to take my eyes off the game to nock an arrow. I also don't get any damage to the bottom fletch like I used to with 3 fletched shafts.

I've done my last few dozen arrows using four 4", all in yellow.  I really like how they show up in flight, and I like being able to get two feathers out of one full length.  I use the Bitz set for 105x75.

Most of you mentioned going to shorter fletching rather than the standard 5" fletch used on 3 fletch arrows? How come? Is it because if you cut your own fletching you can get more out of the feather? Is this sight great or what?

been using 3-5.5"  and I have 3 arrows that have 4-5.5"  & 2 that have 6-5.5" nana feathers and they all fly great. the 4 & 6 fletched arrows I can see them fly better, other then that they all hit where I look.

As far as the down sizing goes, it's to get more fletching out of 1 full feather.
