« on: July 08, 2016, 08:08:00 PM »
Hi, I,m setting up two bows. 1.  hoyt horizon 25" with ilf hoyt 720 at 68" all new for hunting and 3d. 2. Older hoyt matrix with vector carbon foam 70" at 36" for 900 and field, hunter, and animal rounds. Any thoughts. Thanks Dennis.

14 gives a nice diameter string.

I liked 14 for a hunting bow.  FWIW, Brady Ellison uses 16, at least last I was told.

A normal strand count for me is 16 in 8125G. That's primarily for other people's strings if they don't like skinnier configurations. On my bows I like a 12 strand with loops padded to 15 or 16 depending on if it's 3 or 2 bundle. I try to always do 3 bundles, so 15 in the loops. I run that size string on my bows that are 63-70# with no issues in any way. On a 16 I use .024 halo for good nock fit. On the 12 I use .030 halo with teflon tape build up under the serving where the nock point is. I never double serve anything.
