anyone use a BowFlex Power Pro for archery workout?
« on: July 24, 2016, 11:57:00 AM »
a friend just gave me his BowFlex Power Pro and I was wondering if anyone here uses it for specific archery related exercise? I see lots of shoulder and chest applications that look like it would help with some of my heavier poundage bows.

I normally don't use "equipment" but the price was right FREE... most of my exercise is by my job or hiking and fishing with my kid in the backpack.

No matter how active you are at work, in most cases it's not the same as formal exercise. It's still better to have some sort of routine and that will benefit you the most.

A routine can be 5-10 minutes, before a shower, when the kids go to bed or even at lunch.

Hey, don't forget........What ever you do, make sure you work both sides. 10-15 on the right, then repeat on the left!

I have a bachelors degree in exercise science, and I will graduate with my masters in Physician Assistant in a couple weeks. I have also spent 8 months rehabbing after shoulder surgery, and I would be more than happy to share my experience. I am on Facebook under Jamie Holler if any of you have Facebook and would like to hear what I have found to work.

Ron the Bowflex power pro works both sides at once its like a weight bench with pullys and wands of different strengths. I know there was a bow like contraption years again called the Bullflex.

Stretch bands, come in different color and thickness. The heavy stuff is guaranteed to do the job. Sold by Atlas and others. Then get a good instruction manual, or talk to a physical trainer, or therapist. I started using them upon the recommendation of a physical therapist for Rotator cuff and shoulder, similar to the following:

i just sent a friend request Jamie. I have been down for almost 9months with rhuemaoid arthritus, just starting to shoot again, had to start with wifes 35# bow, up to 40# now, but its a struggle, i lost alot of muscle tone. I bought a used bowflex ultimte, been using that about 4 days a week or so.
