I really miss Black Dog Outfitters . They were near Rockford Mi.
That was about 5 miles from my home .
Now the only place I can find trad is in Clair Mi. And that's quite a drive .
Do any of you Michigan people know of a place closer than that to where I live in Sparta ?    :dunno:

Ron LaClairs shop is as far away as Jay's Sporting goods .
I went to Trigger Time in Big Rapids a couple years ago and all I got there was a lecture about how foolish trad gear is .
I just don't like ordering on line .

Grand Valley Sporting Goods in Allendale has a selection of traditional gear.  They sell Bear and Samick bows I think and the basics.  Or you can call Larry at Lost Nation rather than order on-line.

yeah that sucked when Tom closed down Black Dog. Him and Ryan started my fire with traditional gear. Sounds like you live near me. Cabelas is about the best. They have a few things but top prices of course. Keep an eye on the bargain cave  if your near there. I buy arrows in there all the time dirt cheap. Also Bobs gun and tackle in hastings has a few things also.

When black dog closed down I turned into an online shopper, after waiting 2 weeks to find out if about a dozen local shops could at least order things that I need I finally bailed on the shop local mantra. The utter lack of customer service at most of the small local shops will eventually be their demise.

I get your not liking to order online, Dale...but "facts is facts" as they say, and the days of the 'little guy' shop are dwindling fast. The big chains, when they do stock the minuscule amount of 'trad' gear (as they refer to it as) are generally manned (for lack of a better term) by kids just out of high school, buffoons, or wheelie geeks that can't understand WHY you would want "one of them things"....If you use some of the better online sources like 3Rivers or Lancaster, you'll get folks that know and love the products, and live it 9 to 5 every day. I don't like paying shipping any more than the next guy, but I know when I talk to someone and order a product, it's gonna be right when I get it.
There's value there.

I live in a bow-dunk little town and without online shopping I would be dead in the water. Driving and looking for an item is more expensive than the cost of shipping every time.Besides it is very exciting to see that big brown truck coming down your drive.

It was to bad that BDO went under. I was able to get just about all I wanted from Tom. Now I am back to ordering online like most folks...

Make your way to the GLLI. You can re stock there plus get some good shooting in.

Cabela's isn't worth the drive if you are looking for trad gear and Jay's is getting just as bad.

Archery shoots are just about the only place to shop when you want hands on buying anymore.
