New to the trail camera game .

My kids will at Christmas get me something related to trad archery and or deer hunting .
This past Christmas they got me a stealth cam .
Now I'm not a high tech kind of person but I realize they got it for me to use .
So I just set it up yesterday in the yard to see if it was working . Got some pics of my wife in her garden .
But what this post is about , I figured out a neat trick , how to look at the pictures without using a computer .
My phone isn't capable of doing that .
When it hit me ,    I have a digital camera and it uses the same SD chip .
I can put the chip in the camera and look at the pics there .    
That's going to be very handy to check the pics in my hunting spot .
Now I'm sure that most of you already know that , but for this old fart it's kinda neat .

yup that's what I usually do.  I like viewing them from the stand.  Change out cards going to the stand if I evening hunt and view when I get up there.  I don't do it in the mornings though. Tried once and lost a SD card....

I use the camera also. But now they sell SD card readers that plug into ur cell phone.

I recently got a camera and finally figured out how to use it. My wife was complaining that something was eating her roses. I set up the camera and got several pictures of a fat, healthy doe in the rose bed. The surprising thing is that I live just a couple or three blocks from the center of town on the main highway that runs through Gray. That rose bed is less than 40 yards from that main street and less than 20 yards from the residential street that runs beside the house. Maybe I'll set up a stand on the veranda.

I also use my digital camera for quick review and I got a chip reader to plug into my computer so I can see larger version and file them.

ireader is the way to go. I gave $14 for mine. If you order one make sure it takes an SD card and not just a micro SD card. There is one the only takes the micro SD card.

Put my camera out back of the house and went back today and pulled the card .
Sat down in my chair and put the card in my camera .
First pics were of a thin doe .
Next pics...
Very nice heavy body buck in velvet with a wide spread , looks to be at least a 6 point .
Guess I have the camera set up properly .
That was kinda neat .

I do have a few pictures where I can't see anything .      
One picture is at night , but I don't see a thing that could have tripped the camera .
Is this normal ?
I wondered if it could be a bird or something that just went past so fast that it was out of the frame before it took the picture ?

I get a few of those myself. Depends on camera trigger speed. I figure birds flying by.

Just recently started with cameras and really enjoying them. Love to see what I catch every couple of weeks. Like being a "fly on the wall"

Birds will get empties,also wind and tree branches, weeds, even too small a tree the camera is on can trigger an empty frame.  

Remember somebody had 400 pics of a spider building a web!    

I just got 3 pics of the back half of a bobcat. Now that's sneaky.

Nice! Thats what I do. I get a lot of pics of bull frogs and Toads  and little red and yellow birds. Occasionally a big old hog or two!

Bugs,birds and bats can trigger the camera as well as a hot spot,caused by a beam of sun light.In addition to weeds or branches moved by wind,don't forget that if the camera is mounted on a smaller tree,the wind may move the the tree and camera itself.

wind, grass and leaves trigger a camera a LOT as well as little critters that trigger the camera and scoot under the lens.
