LOL... I did revel in how easy it was to pick up your gear and move it to dry land...that small depression below grade really filled up!
I started out simple for years...sleeping on a foam pad in the back of my F150 8' bed truck with cap... till one year it rained every shoot and in those days I did 2/month starting end of April
I bought one of those canopies... Bear to set up and put a cot inside and my breath condensed inside and I awoke to drips thinking the tarp covering leaked..nope. Sold it.
As Uncle ARty Ritis came to visit and never left, I bought an Apache hard side pop up...no rag to dry out...loved that thing... 2 burner stove dried out the interior and on cold weekends, it warmed up to skivvy temps quickly.
I had at first a 12x20 silver tarp I set up over a 2 table kitchen, then a 12x16. Did a lot of cooking with and for friends.
Still have the gear, sold the camper, but found a lot of people would get under my tarp and litter the place after I went to bed in inclement weather...Changes in who attended, I guess.
Went back to a more minimalist format .
Had a 2 burner Camp Chef stove, couple of Dutch ovens, a small table top 2 burner bernsomatic stove, Trash bags hanging around (that were invisible to the litter bugs), table top grill, LP lamp, etc.
Made the 4 day camp outs feel like home...till it didn't!
