« on: September 06, 2016, 08:55:00 PM »
Hey guys , ok so ive had an older Damascus glove i bought back around 01-02 its been awesome i kno some dont care for them cuz they are thin , but thats why i love them i cant shoot with thick glove i cant feel the string , anyway my old glove is in need of being replaced so i went to 3 rivers and was looking but i cudnt find any with the older green stiching that said Damascus on it so i started reading the reviews and alot of them say there is a great difference in size and make from the older ones and theres an odor on the new ones that they cant get out  . im wondering if anyof you shoot the newer ones n how are they and if not which other glove wud yall reccomend that wud be a close match to the older damascus glove , i have no place around i cud try any i would have to order one so any help would be appreciated

Those damascus gloves have changed a bit since back them. I was in the same boat last year and I picked up a couple and they just aren't the same. Lots of guys are praising the buffalo and elk hide ones but haven't pulled the trigger on getting one yet. Probably still have a season left on my old glove.

What hand are you? and what size do you wear? I think I have a brand new Dura glove around somewhere, I will have to look but it will be tomorrow. Not sure what size it is.

I never shot the "old" Damascus, but I have shot the new one. I got the Legacy kangaroo glove from Big Jim's a few months ago - it's everything the Damascus should be, but isn't. Probably the closest you'll get to your old glove.

Soft, comfortable, great feel for the string, wears well.

For those that shoot the Damascus.  Yesterday I did surgery on mine.  I also like thinner, but I dislike the "glove" style with fingers sewn on the side, as I perceive it to be bulky.

I cut the very ends off of the three finger stalls.  Go slowly, but I cut off maybe 3/8" on each.  I also put hem sealer on the now exposed threads and seams.  I really really like what I ended up with.

If you have an older one, you might try experimenting, as I did.

Ive have used Damascus for years but the new ones are to thick for my liking, I to like to feel the string. I went to my local Sporting Good store several months ago and bout a glove made by NEET, the leather is super thin...I really like this glove. May want to give it a try.......

I have an October Mountain archery glove and I really like it - not too thin to hurt your fingers and not too thick to not feel the string.
You can find it here:

Sure, it depends on how much you want to spend on a glove too.

big jim glove is a good alternative although I would say it might be a bit thicker. Either way I like it a lot more than the Berlin glove i replaced.
