Correct string length?
«

I have a self bow that I've made, but managed to loose the string while moving to my new house.
And who makes strings?

If you're making your own bows you owe it to yourself to learn how to make your own strings.
The skill can sometimes be a challenge but it's well worth it.
The easiest way I've found to do self bow strings is to have a long tillering string with a loop on one end and a bowyer's knot on the other. I find an overbuilt Flemish string to work great.
Once the bow is shot in I can measure that tiller string to see what loop to loop measurement I need for a permanent string.
If you need a custom string maker you won't find anyone better or more helpful than Chad at Champion Custom Bowstrings. Chad will make you a string and he'll gladly help you learn how to make your own. He's in the sponsor list.

DHX,
I will gladly help you out. You can go to hcbstrings.com and order whatever you want. You can't go wrong with Chad either.

Depending on how you like it braced, 2.5-3" shorter than the nock-to-nock measurement will usually do the trick. Like Grey said, use a tillering string and a timber hitch (bowyer's knot) to find out for sure.
If you decide to learn to make your own, I'll be glad to help.
