Long draw recurves
«

Always have shot longbows. After looking at some of the old Bears and a recent post here about Chad's River Runner plus a conversation I had this morning with a buddy changing from longbow to recurve, I've been thinking about maybe trying kind out. Any suggestions for a long draw guy? Thanks Guys

I was always a longbow guy (still am at heart), but I've been having a lot of fun with a Samick Journey (64") for the last 3+ years. If nothing else, it's a cheap way to see if a recurve is the route to take. FWIW, I draw 31" on it.

I have a 31" draw length and have shot 2 recurves that I liked. The first one is a Morrison ILF set up with XL Max 1 limbs that thing is smooth to my ear. The other is my baby a Bear T/D B riser and #1 limbs (Would like to try #3 limbs bought it local and that's what came on the riser) I haven't bought the #3 limbs because it is smooth to my draw with very little stacking. It's hard to tell if it stacks for me it's only 43 @ 28".
That's the only 2 I have shot that I liked. But I haven't shot many recurves.

Chain2, it's almost a little late to switch this season. I'd suggest going to the Trad Expo in Kalamazoo in January and shoot a dozen or two for free. If you can't find one you really like out of all the vendors there, that should pretty well answer your question. Leave your credit card home, though, or you may come home with a surprise
Fair number of used bows there too.

I,'ve got a couple Wes Wallace long bows, both 68",
I cracked under pressure little over a month ago. Called him up, got a 66" takedown Stealth on order, should be done around February. 31" draw, kinda like a slightly longer bow.

I don't draw longer than average.. 29, but I have some friends who do. They cannot believe how smooth and forgiving my 64" Toelke SS is... I would highly recommend trying one. And the order wait isn't long at all.

Predator recurve. I'm not sure how far you could draw it before it stacks up.

My 64" Widow PMA is great at 31". I also was so impressed when I demo's a 62" Java Man Assyrian static recurve that I'm on the list for one.

Chain2 if you'd like to discuss what you like in a bow as far as 1pc/2pc/3pc and your draw length and charcteristics you like in a bow send me a PM, I've shot a bunch and can give some good feedback on some of the top stuff out there.
Off the top of my head, if you like 3pc bows and draw upward of 29" one of the sweetest bows I've ever shot that favors a long draw is a 64" Stalker Wolverine w/static tip limbs. Super quiet, quick and butter smooth.

I shot a lot of bows before I ordered one. I draw 30 inches. I picked a Palmer 64 inch recurve. It was smooth and very fast. Black Widow 64 inch recurve was a very close second.

Good move. It's not that terrible far away, and bows are a lot like trucks. What one guy swears by, the next may swear at. Stop by the BCY table if you get a chance.
