So, inquiring minds want to know.."Did you tell him?"      [/b]
Yes. The first words from my mouth were "throw that trashy thing down!!!!!!"

Being it was your FiLaw, I was curious if you ever told him... that could be a conundrum right there

I do those kind of things a lot lately. I think it comes with age........that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Yes I have forgotten my bow too. along with everything else you can imagine.  Wayne your story reminded me of one of my own, where I walked up on a gut pile and found a brand new pair of gloves laying there. Thought I hit the jackpot with new gloves but soon found out I hit the crap pot when I picked them up!

I knocked my longbow off the front bar of my climber while I was reaching for an arrow to put it on the string. I had to wait for it to get light enough to see and I was able to fish it back up in the tree with my bow rope.

Now, THAT is the real issue, isnt' it!?

Deer & Deer Hunting did a tree stand accident report one year long ago... majority of accidents with tree stands occurred getting onto or off of at elevation.

When you've been sitting long hours, or getting down after a shot and are jazzed, is when "stuff" happens...

Be careful out there...the other stuff, while humorous in hind-sight, the ones that can maim or kill are those that require mental conditioning to avoid!

I tried to put this off hoping the memories would fade away but did have at least a couple dumb moments I have to admit to.

Long ago before tree stands were popular I climbed into a tree and was knees and hands on a dead branch that looked strong enough and before I could stand it let go.  I grimaced expecting the worse but landed in the same position luckily in a deep bed of leaves with recurve and bow quiver clunking down beside me. Dumb and lucky.

More recently and not quite as dumb I drove the 240 miles to the VT camp and forget my tackle box which happened to have my broadheads in it. Had to buy replacements which ended up on the Raffle this year.

It didn't happen to me but an old archery range buddy of mine drove all the way from Brooklyn to the Adirondacks and found out when he got there that he had left his bow home. That's a 7 hour drive for a 5 day hunt and he had no bow. Fortunately this was years ago when small retail sporting goods stores still existed and he was able to walk into one and buy a used Kodiak Hunter for his hunt. When he got back to Brooklyn he found the bow sitting atop his washing machine where he had set it down while carrying his other gear out to the car..lol
