Riser inserts will not stay in.
« on: October 09, 2016, 02:29:00 PM »
Both of the inserts on my riser came out.  They were there when I bought the bow at the store.  How do I go about putting them back in if I do not want to travel to the store.  It is a bear grizzly

Thanks,
I was thinking that myself.  I was told just simple arrow point glue should work but I did not have any luck with that as they came out when I tried to install my quiver.

I just realized now that my bolt that I am using is probably about a mm or 2 (maybe 1/16th of an inch)too long so it pushed the insert out after I glued it in for about the 3rd time.

Feel dumb now hah

2 part JB Weld will keep them in.......and get shorter screws.

Had the same problem and I got some rubber seals from lowes to use as backing for the longer screws. Works great and they are only like 50 cents a piece.

A little tip on epoxying in inserts- Clean insert and hole and rough up if needed , then with a q-tip spread some Vaseline around the hole on riser. when glue is set up, the epoxy won't be permanent on the riser. Comes off pretty easily.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Thanks for the tips.
I will probably only get around to setting it up in about a weeks time.  A minimum 4 hours drive to any department store here.

When you get them epoxied back in, and yes, you should use epoxy, be sure that your screws/bolts are not too long.  If they bottom out, i.e.,the end of the screw contacts the base of the insert hole, they will continue to pull the inserts out when you attempt to tighten the screw/bolt..
