Custom / homemade "stipled" grips??

I've had a idea to do this to my recurve.  Just small "dots" with the dremel to give a slick finish some grip.  Anyone do this themselves on their bows?

Blacktails have stippled grips. You might look at them for some inspiration.

Midway USA has a good video on how to do checkering as well.  I have been wanting to try either that or stipling on my Sage riser.

Before you checker your bow, I suggest you practice for about a week on scrap wood of similar hardness and grain.  It looks easy as heck.... not

Heres one of mine with a demal. I do all my grips on my personal bows. For me a diamond burr bit works the best. I have used the cutter kind but have had them want to grab. Its not hard to do just take your time.

That's what it should look like. Very nice work and it sure compliments the bow.

My only advice would be to grab a piece of scrap hardwood, round it off and draw out the design. Then practice. If you like what you see, you're ready to go. If you decide a bit more practice wouldn't hurt, sand it off and start again. Can't imagine starting out on a nice bow without a dry run or two first.

is this a good solution to a sweaty bow hand?  on my current riser, the bow lacks grip when my hands are sweaty.  Will this fix that?

I like the stipple it helps on the grip. I really like it when wearing gloves while shooting. I dont stipple the part where the web of your hand goes so the bow can square up when drawing.

I have sweaty hands year round and the checkering does help but didn't fix it, I carry a rag in my pocket and every so often I dry them and the grip up. No big deal though. A leather grip of sorts works better although after a lot of shooting the wrap starts sucking up the moisture and Changes color    Cheers!
