increasing arrow weight,how? short draw

Hi,
i am shooting a bear 52" hunting recurve, my draw is 24" at 50lbs. Using 2018 shafts cut to 26"
I am hunting hogs and would like to increase arrow weight for better penetration, how should i go about doing this?
1) increase the arrow length? 2) put weight tubing inside the arrow?
any advise much appreciated. RT

Just for starters and to keep costs low ( at least in my case!) try the weight tubes or some yellow poly rope that will fit inside your arrows. The rope will really boost the weight and may affect spine a little, so then point weight may have to be increased. Heavier points will help with keeping more weight forward of center when weighting the whole shaft.
Is the draw weight of your bow 50# at your draw length or at AMO of 28"?

Hi Dan,
I am drawing 50# at 24" and i hunt mostly hogs between 40 to 155lbs, just want to ensure that pass thru each time for good blood trial.

I used to put a piece of 3/8" cord (WallyWorld)inside my 1913s . The arrows are 28" and it makes the cord abot 24", which adds a tad over 100gr. That worked well and was easy. I took them out when I hadn't been hog hunting for three years.

If you really want to beef up the weight try filling the arrows with salt. You'll get them plenty heavy this way. Take care, Matt
