Mast Trees
« on: October 27, 2016, 10:44:00 AM »
I am getting ready to plant some soft mast trees in southwest Arkansas.  Just interested in your thoughts about trees that have been consistent producers of deer.  I have a few young and old persimmon trees that are great.

Thanks

Pears are usually a good draw during hunting season. Plums, at least where I have lived are early to mid summer fruiting. Saw tooth oaks are not soft mast but produce prolifically and within only a few years after planting even though they are now considered exotic invasives. Grapes are another option but usually only for the early season.
