The new Sammick Sage

I help locals get started in traditional archery with a "starter set up", which includes a sage, dozen arrows fletched with reflective wraps and cut to their liking, field tips, new string, arm guard, and glove/tab(whatever they desire).  

I have noticed that the last couple of sages i've gotten in have been different.  They have changed the grip, look, etc.  I believe they have even change the design of the limbs because the most recent one I sat up stacked pretty bad at my draw and i've never had that happen before.  


Does anyone know what is going on?  Why this change took place?  I also noticed they have a new coin on the side..

Interesting.  I recently picked up a left-handed riser for my Sage to learn to shoot left-handed.  Yes, the grip feels different but it's hard to tell since I'm gripping it with the opposite hand or with the same hand but backwards.  But I noticed that the limb bolts were different lengths.  My left riser bolts were a tad longer than the right riser's bolts so I can't swap them out.  The limbs fit fine on each but only if I use the bolts that came with them.  I don't know why but, as a businessman, I'd venture to guess that they have had a supplier change or some other manufacturing change that warranted a bit of a redesign to accommodate for the new parts.  Just a guess, though.

I think Sammick went through a re-structuring a while back.  If I remember correctly, a lot of the old workers split off to start their own business or something like that.  I'll see what I can dig up.

I have an opinion of the sage. Just had open heart surgery in April and decided to order a sage in 40# and leave my heavier weight customs on the shelf for this year. I got the bow and put a correct string on it , put some puffballs and tied on nock sets and made up some arrows for it. I was greatly impressed how it shot and have killed a big doe with it.

That's a damn shame. I have shot their bow, the Journey and at 64" it was a really great balanced bow.

One thing that I do know is that they make a hell of a longbow.

don't tell anyone, but i think its just as good as many of the $500+ customs.  I have a few bows at the house that are all 'high end bows' and I don't think they're that far ahead of the sage.  That is before this new design.  For some reason, the new design is stacking at my draw.. and it sucks!!!
