Funny how this works
« on: November 10, 2016, 02:49:00 PM »
I was just pondering my season and couldn't help but see just how funny this Dad thing is.  I have been bowhunting for more than 50 years and my son, who's 38, and I have been bowhuntng since he was 12.  He's been married for more than 10 yrs. now and while we work together everyday we live 10 miles apart and probably only hunt together 3 or 4 times a season.  I had it in my head that I hunt alone but the 2nd week of the season he dropped his motorcycle and hurt his shoulder to the point he couldn't pull back a bow.  I found myself hunting less and less until I realized the season was winding down.  I took a morning off work and shot a nice doe.  2 weeks later I took another morning off and killed a 7 point.
Now I realize that if he had been hunting I wouldn't have shot that buck unless he would have already killed one.  I guess I just need to know he's hunting or my season looses a bunch of it's meaning.

Funny is right ...
It seems that some of the greatest things we get as dads lie buried in those things we relinquish.
