It finally happened...
« on: November 18, 2016, 09:55:00 PM »
Well it finally happened, had my first bow failure! Couldn't get out to hunt so I decided a practice session was in order. About my 7th or 8th arrow in, I hit full draw and *CRACK!!* what the heck was that?!?!? Let down slowly, no limbs in my way to hit, no loose arrows in quiver, give the bow a quick once over, looks good!  Weird! Nocked an arrow, hit full draw *CRACK! POP!* Now I know what that is!!! Let down slowly and sure enough my laminations seperated in my riser! It's an older PSE marksman longbow, not much but it was mine. She did me well though, about 4 years of shooting almost everyday abd hunting in all conditions! She also taught me a lot! Thankfully it didn't explode and I wasn't hurt! Plus it's still in one piece so it's gonna make great deco in the house

Sorry to hear that, real bummer. They all go at some point. Glad you were not hurt.

You now have a good excuse to replace it.

Had that happen to me for the first time this year as well. Only mine was a beautiful zebra wood grizzly and it blew apart at full draw hitting me just below my eye. I got lucky an inch higher who knows what damage could have been done. Glad your ok

Have unfortunately endured the experience several times.

Glad you weren't injured.

I have a PSE Marksman that did the very same thing. I applied some epoxy glue into the riser section, drilled a hole from the back or the bow running into the grip and installed a wood screw. It's still together.

Ouch... no fun at all. You're keeping a good attitude, and didn't get hurt. Best you can do in that situation.

Thanks guys!!! Was just a shock to me! 2 good notes, it's gonna force me to shoot a very nice left handed bow I have while I save for a maddog bow and secobd and above all I wasn't hurt! Such an eerie feeling though!

Do you normally shoot left handed?

I've only had one blow up in my hands -  Bob Lee Red Wing Hunter with the tiny tips.  Blew the tips off both limbs.  Spectacular and something I hope NEVER to have happen again.

I had a bow do that a week before going on Canadian bear hunt. That is why I always have a back up bow tuned and ready.

Ken Sorg, no I'm a right handed shooter! Just wanted to see if I could shoot lefty so I snagged a nice lefty bow for relatively low cost.
