We had some rain yesterday that was just unreal. Most would say we were crazy to be out. I might as well have been swimming, I was that wet. Well, we used thr down pour to our advantage by scouting a new part of the mountain. The area we have been hunting the last few years was not very active this year. With the heavy rain we were able to bush wack around, find a new spot and dare I say leave no scent? (Did I say it was raining hard) Once we made some new set ups, we went back to the house for lunch and to change clothes. The sun came out and we hit the mountain with renewed strength. I was in my new spot only 5 minutes and I had 3 does come in right in my face. Weel that was the trouble, they were right in my face and faceing me. They were about 6 or 7 yards away. The lead doe noticed me, and we had a stand off for about 15 minutes. (thank goodness for good wind direction.) She tried to circle around and I finally got to draw on her. I split a branch on a Mountain Laurel bush. The arrow went right through and the arrow lost it's momentum and spun, bouncing off the deer. (no damage done). The other deer took off and the one I shot at jumped up into the brush and stood there long enough for me to get another arrow. She came out and went after the others. I was able to let another arrow fly as she passed an opening in front of me, but it sailed clear over her. Hope every one else had a great day.
