Are they all following a hot doe?
I found two fresh scrapes today.

Rut here is pretty much done except for a occasional yearling coming into estrous and also seeing younger bucks traveling together again.

Just about everywhere above the Mason Dixon, it is normal for the bucks to get together and hunker down around late December in preparation for the coming winter.  If they are doing it a month earlier than normal, you folks in the NE may be in for a rough winter.

I had 4 bucks in a loose group near my stand on Nov. 26.  Not something I have seen before at this time of year.  There was no doe in the area.

Here in southern zone NY on Nov 11th and Nov 21st I've seen multiple bucks(2-3)together running does. Some of bucks were grunting and hot on the does. And that was in my yard! My season have been cut short so I really haven't been out since opening weekend.

Mature bucks still running does here Sunday evening.

Rut activity is visibly tapering off.

Will gladly entertain a group of mature bucks passing thru.
