Hi, Its my first post here, couldnt really find the information I need so here goes:
I have an old Samick "Spirit 2" take down recurve thats 50# 60in with a 21" or 22" riser that stacks like crazy at my draw length. Im trying to somehow turn it into a usable bow by getting longer limbs and this is my idea:
The limbs are no longer available from Samick, they are hex bolt with two pins. From what I can tell, the connection is compatible with most of the greatree bows, of few of the older PSE, the Bear Sonoma and the SAS courage.
Now, I could just buy new, longer limbs from SAS or Greatree, but then my current limbs would be useless. So, Im thinking of buying a Bear Sonoma at 40#, and swapping the limbs.
I'm pretty sure the Bear Sonoma has a shorter riser, So I believe Id end up with something like a 56" bow thats around 55#, and a 64" bow thats around 35# (Assuming the sonoma riser is 18", which I think it is). Hopefully both would be relatively shootable because the riser/limb lengths would be more proportional.
Is this a really stupid idea? I wouldnt be surprised if theres something im not considering. I appreciate any advice. FYI, this is not my main bow, I just want make it into something I or someone else could actually use.
Thanks in advance! sorry, post turned out kinda long
