Bucks getting active now?
« on: October 28, 2007, 10:41:00 AM »
In the last couple days I've seen some fresh scrapes and have caught some small bucks following does on the cameras.  The weather seems to have finally broke and we are getting som ecool temps now.

With this type of activity is it time to start rattling?

Yes things are looking up. I saw 9 deer yesterday had a doe come in early this morning, then i bleated in a small buck today. I was in my blind and he ran right at me came up to about 10 feet, pretty cool.

I have been seeing many bucks in peices along the highway. I see alot on my drive to the hunting ground. I don't see activity in the woods though, no more than usual.

They were chasing this weekend where I hunt. I grunted in a doe and spike after the big chase went thru my area.

All last week they were out with a vengance. This weekend was a bit quieter which I think is due to the full moon. More chase action after dark.
Just one more step please!

I saw 3 different bucks laying each with a different doe out in the middle of  harvested fields last week. Also while harvesting corn I have seen bucks moving alot lately.

We saw 10 definitely unique different deer this weekend(many more sightings that could have been repeats).  All but 2 were bucks.  Most movement was between 7:30 and 8:30 AM and 6:15 - 7:00 PM Saturday, with the AM movement being heavier.

I just checked the cameras and a couple new bucks, one young and the other a nice 8pt have just showed up.  First time ever seeing them on the property.  I guess the good number of does we have on the property are starting to really bring them in.

Lots of bucks moving veddy good here in central MD.

Had a grandpappy 8 (huge body...was limping badly...possible fight with bigger deer?) come to me wanting to find me on the edge of a corn field.  Snort weezed him over with my mouth, but he caught my wind after 25 mintues of cat and mouse and he slinked silently away into the corn.

Nothing like being on the ground.
