Adams spine tester question

I have a vintage Adams spine tester. It used a 2lb. weight, and is marked as 26" measurement. im confused, should I adjust it to 28", or is the 2lb weight specific to 26" testing... Any help would be greatly appreciated

The 2# weight is specific for a 26" span. This was the AMO standard set up for measuring arrow deflection for wood arrows. AMO standards were the result of AMADA (Archery Manufcters and Dealer Association). Today ATA has a modified standard for measuring arrow spine deflection for carbons and aluminum. It is measured at 28" span and a 1.94# weight. There are charts and various formulas to convert these from one to another. I have a spine tester by Oak Creek Archery which shows AMO in pounds and ATA in measured deflection. Had an Adams but "upgraded" because of the spine scale on the newer one. Works the same as an Adams.

2# is for 26"

1.94# is for 28"

The 2 lb weight is used with 26" centers.  The spine reading applies to a 28" BOP arrow.

IMO, we would all be better off measuring spine in deflection in thousandths of an inch, but most of us aren't going to change at this point in our life.

I totally agree! 1/1000th of an inch is so much more precise!!!!!
