I have a vest and a pair of pants made of saddle cloth.

The pants are great for bear hunting in the spring since mosquitos can't drill through. As you say, they're quiet but I find that saddle cloth is not as quiet in freezing weather.

I haven't heard anything about Saddle Cloth for a long time either.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

Ever look at wolfskin from gray wolf woolens?  Love mine. Tough, repels water well and stays silent in the cold.

If you don't mind a more modern equivalent I think Gamehide has some great stuff. I have a pair of overall pants from them I got a yard sale. Wind and water proof and dead quiet when brushing against anything. Got it from the neighbors yard sale 15 years ago and still going strong

I love my saddle cloth.  In a pack it does get stiffer and noisey in cold weather but I never have had that problem in clothing that stays warmer on my body.  Great for stuff not sticking to it--stick-tites, etc.

My saddle cloth was extremely hard and loud with frigid cold. Sounded like I was wearing a blue tarp.

I tried it once.  Took it to the Black Hills on a deer hunt.  Crawled out of the tent in the morning at 17 degrees.  Jacket was so stiff and loud I couldn't use it.  Lousy stuff in cold weather.

Forgot about that stuff. Had a jacket made out of it. Really soft in the store. Loud and stiff in cold weather. If you took it off the arms stood straight out.
I would guess it's no longer made

I have a back pack made of buck suede, very similar, and love it.

I had a saddle cloth pants, little sticks and things went 'thwack' on my pants.  A near fatal accident crossing a barbed wire fence thankfully ended my use of them.

Saddle cloth catches on fire really easy/fast... Don't ask me how I know this!   :knothead:    :knothead:
