My late father in law was a lowly private out for a jog at Ft. Shafter when Pearl was attacked. He watched in horror as the bombs and torpedoes destroyed a good bit of the Pacific fleet. May we never again be caught so off guard as then and on 9-11. Keep America's military strong, viable, and ready for anything.

May we never use American lives to bait war entry again...
 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl_Harbor_advance-knowledge_conspiracy_theory

I lost one of my best friends too an IED in Iraq in 2008, looking at things as they are takes nothing away from his heroism or anyone else's.
It's worth a read and pretty in depth. My generation is willing to look at things (take 9/11 for example) factually and have a conversation about it. Granted, looking at things for as they are without blind patrioism can lead to a very apathetic mindset which is a problem too

60 million people died in World War II, mostly because of a few world leaders and the people followed...Those 60 million people should be remembered today also as well as the the 400,000 American military who lost their lives in the 4 years to follow.

These peoples lives mattered, and today we honor them. But why did they die, and what can we do to prevent war war III?

God bless all the familys of all the lost on that terrible day. And all of those in the 4 years following. Not sure what that guy meant by saying lives ere lost to bait us in the war. I lost freinds when I served in the Marines in afghanistan after the attacks. theyre lives were not lost as "bait". What a terrible thing to say.

Let us always be thankful that we have had, and will always have, brave ones to defend our nation. The losses on 12-7-41 were not in vain.

Michael Arnette,

Did you read the article you cited?

"the Pearl Harbor advance-knowledge conspiracy is considered to be a fringe theory and is rejected by many historians.[11][12][13]"

Yes, thank you so much to those that fell, and to all that have served.

My wife and I watched a couple of the great documentaries the past couple days on the history channel.  It is fantastic that they are interviewing many of the few remaining men that lived through those battles, as we lose so many to age.

I've never been to Pearl Harbor, but I have been to the Normandy beaches and surrounding area, as well as Verdun and that countryside devastated in both wars.  I think that somehow it should be a requirement that young Americans see these places.  Maybe there would be more appreciation of what their grandfather's generation did for them, and for what we have in this country. Maybe it would help them put some things in perspective to see all those white stones: square ones, ones made into crosses and stones in the shape of stars of David together in the big cemeteries.

I shudder when I think of the outcome of a similar war with today's generation of American youth being put to the test of courage as compared to the boys of 17 or 18 yrs old that became men in the 1940's.

If you know a veteran, thank him.  And rather than buying into political nonsense and revisionist history, at least for a day, thank God that hundreds of thousands made the sacrifices so you don't have to.

Michael,

Anyone considering wickepedia a "source" material for truth doesn't understand that you or I can go into it and make wholesale changes to any entry.

I've seen the documentation you think was kept hidden by our leaders to draw us into war by allowing the attack to occur.

Don't confuse wars since Vietnam( which are micromanaged  by politicians) with prior wars.  The reports that are under suspicion were filed away by a midlevel  bureaucrat and were just part of hundreds of pieces of intelligence reporting Japanese adventurism   And imminent attack over a coiple years
