Why is it that when you find an item you really like you find it is no longer being made.
I have looked at a particular custom bow now for a year or more and have wanted to try one but for some reason or another just never pulled the trigger on one. Now that the bowyer has quit and is no longer making them I have decided to try one.
I recently found a Whippenstick Phoenix one piece at Lost Nation Archery and purchased it. It arrived in the mail today and though it is cold outside I had to string it up and shoot it.
Man, do I like this bow. Now I am going to have to see if I can find the three piece model.

I had two of Kens longbows and they were top shelf. Very nice, humble guy that was an outstanding bowyer. His bows are top performers in all categories. Sometimes a hobby turned job loses its luster. Nineworlds on here had a beautiful 3 pc. recurve a while back, pretty sure he sold.

Same thing happened to me. Waited too long and lost out on Ken's skills. Great recurve!

I had the worst luck like that. I wanted to buy another Quillian Bamboo Longhunter and didn't. Dan passed before I got the money together. I also wanted to buy another Jack Howard in a lighter poundage. Jack formally retired after I got the money together and passed shortly after. Now, I just buy it and hide it from my wife. I hid 5 bows one time under the bed and she was none the wiser.

I hope you find a 3-piece Louis! I have heard lots of good things about them, shame he quit building them...

Yep same here. Was just going to pull the trigger this September for my birthday bow then found out he stopped making bows.
I still own his longbow which was also my first custom bow and my favorite so far.

Can't tell you how many times in my life this has occurred.
The lesson here is simple. Don't wait.

Aye... Saw a Brackenbury long bow online not too, long ago. 60 lb takedown at Raptor Archery,s site. Started gettin the itch, tried to resist, gave up and went to make a move on it, it was gone, long gone..... :(
So if anybody here has that bad boy and gets tired off it, let me know...
