my uncle just called me up yesterday and told me the a new guy at thier hunting club is a competion shooter for Hoyt, this guy set everyone there up with hoyt's newest bow that has all the latest bells and whisles, I was tempted to buy one, I have never even shot a compound,he was telling me all this stuff about tight groups at 40 yards, I was tempted, but I told my uncle, I think I'll stick with my longbow for now

Sounds like maybe he's as good a salesman as he is a shooter. You did good. imho
Stick to your guns, or bows as it were.

Ian... if you want to kill a deer at 40 yds with a bow... save your money and buy a shotgun or a rifle... I'd much rather see my game within spitting distance..... now thats hunting! You made the right decision bud.

My neighbor next Door just bought a $2000.00 Hoyt 3-D target bow. He's got a scope and everything on it. He called me over the fence to come look at it. We decided to shoot awhile in his yard. After about the third time of his release going off prematurely and him punching himself in the mouth he put the bow down. He said I think I need a new release. I said yeah or a boxing mouth piece. Stick and string brother, thats the only way

Nothing wrong with shooting a compound. It's just not as fun or challenging...but nothing wrong with it.
