need arrow recipes
« on: February 06, 2017, 08:39:00 PM »
I would like to try some Easton axis traditionals.  52# @ 29" out of a Thunderhorn.  Thinking about a 50 grain brass insert with a 125 grain head.  What spine should I go with?
Also any ideas on wood spine?   Thinking 60 - 65?
Lastly, 2018 aluminums with 125 grain heads?

I am shooting a 53# @ 29" longbow now, with 2016s.
30.5" bop, 125gr.  Can't tell any difference with 145s.  Also shooting 60-65 POC with 125s.  Haven't tried heavier heads on them yet.

Axis .400s cut to 30 inches BOP should fit the bill for your bow/draw weight/length. Depending on head weight, 60-65 woodies should work, though you might want to go a bit heavier, say 65-70#. I don't know much about aluminums.
