Light weight hunting seat
« on: February 08, 2017, 12:19:00 PM »
I have been using a small tripod type seat but have not been entirely satisfied with it. I know there are some that are much better. There is one that I have seen the works like a hammock and hangs on the side of the tree. I cant remember the name or who makes it. The guy that makes them may be a sponsor on here, not sure. So, on to what I want to ask. What are you guys using as a light weight portable hunting seat? I would love to see pictures of them if possible, also include everything you can about them. Thanks guys!

I have Hammock seats, I do not use them for hunting I use them on Canadian canoe trips.  I use a Nifty Seat, with a pad attached to my belt, a Huntmore chair and a Grizzly strap on seat.

I use the Waldrop pack Seat.  It is great, comfortable for long sits (well my butt does start getting numb after three hours).  Goes on back like a daypack with waist belt.  My gear bag I strap to it weighs more.  I also made a Dean Torques seat that uses a piece of plywood and suspends from the trunk by a piece of rope.  It works well, but is not as convenient as the pac-seat
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

The Double Bull Magnum is light weight. It is a tri-pod seat, comfortable and reasonably inexpensive.

I have the millennium chair. It only weighs 7# and is super quiet. It also doesn't make any noise when you are in it. Super comfortable for ground hunting.

Hammock seat works quite well.  Lighter than most of the others, but you do need a tree to hang it on, and it does make some noise because it's nylon.  However, the noise is minimal and you can avoid most of it by wearing quiet clothes and moving slowly..

For blinds, can't beat the Millennium chair.  It is a bit bulky, but sets up quickly and very comfortable and stable.

X2. Best investment I've made, as far as portable chairs go.

X2 for the Waldrop Pac Seat. Most confortable hunting seat I've ever used in 40 years of bow hunting.

I tried a Waldrop seat one day, i set back like a lazy boy recliner.  When a deer came in at an unsuspected angle,  I was all thumbs and big toes trying to get into position.  I taught that buck a good lesson.   You have to be able to be a ready shoot position at all times, because ya just never know when things are going to go nuts.  I took a blanket and a pillow thick seat pad out a few times, because I wanted use a low spot in the terrain.  I learned that I need to pack some food and water when I hunt that way, because I got kinda sleepy about 8 or 9 in the morning and took a nice nap and woke up starving about 1 in the afternoon.
