One has to go...
« on: February 24, 2017, 08:27:00 PM »
Both are great shooters and I'm not really sure I shoot one that much better than the other. Thunderchild is a 1 pc 56" #49@28, black and white ebony. The Elkhart is 2 PC 54" #50@28, Myrtle with phenolic. Tough decision, think I'm going to have to shoot them some more.

I would keep both too. I have a Thunderchild and a Super Shrew. Both are 50 @ 28" and both shoot great for me. I think the Shrew is 56" and the Thunderchild is 54". Love them both enough that if I were getting rid of bows all of my other bows would go first except my Hoyt take down.

They are both beautiful bows, but there's no doubt I'd go for the Elkhart...the limb design creates a very pleasing profile, and I know the grip fits the hand perfectly...being a 2 piece is just twice the reason to pick it.

Had a feeling you knew you were going to keep both. Good looking sticks.

Tajue, I think the limb design on the Elkhart has an edge in speed while the Thunderchild is quieter. Mind you it seems slight in both cases. They seem to draw almost the same with what I feel is a slightly smoother draw on the TC.

It's a good thing you are keeping the Elkhart...I just saw pictures of the "new and improved" shrew and the strung profile looks more like the Thunderchild...  :(

If one absolutely had to go, I would keep the elkheart, simply for the fact that it is a 2 piece for easy and safe travel, and that it is 50 lbs which is the minimum for hunting big game in Alaska.
