N.J. Pheasant hunt any interest?
« on: February 28, 2017, 12:28:00 PM »
TANJ hasn't done this for years and I'm jonesing.{they used to go to Bent Creek central jersey}  My dog died recently and before that she had been out of commission for the past couple years so we will need to hire a dog.  Public land deer hunting is Horrible these days and I need a hunt were I know there is game present.

I'll check out options that would be central to those interested and get back to you with price that would include cost for each hunter and dog and X number of birds per hunter. I will throw in an extra 150$ for additional birds

The 18th may work for me. Looking at the regs, hunting on "Semi wild" (not sure what that means) preserves closes on 3/15 and 5/1 on "Commercial" shooting preserves. Sounds like we'd be on the Commerical preserve right? Looking at licenses, I think I could get a single day hunting license for $12.50 but would I also need the Pheasant & Quail stamp? I'm guessing were using bowzonly?   ;)   I've got 3 or 4 guys near me that may be interested in coming if we've got some spots to fill up?

I can't make it the 18th but I've hunted Buttonwood preserve and had a good time with a shotgun.

We hired a dog and guide, a Braque Francais that was amazing.

I'm just seeing this now,, might be too last minute for me because I work alot of weekends. but post up the final details and if this gets bumped out PM me or post up the new info..

I've taken only two pheasants in my life with a stickbow, both taken on running on the ground as I snuck up on them down paths walking quietly... I was in regular public management areas where everyone had dogs and me shooting in the air at birds would just cause come confrontations..

I'd luv to do an organized bird hunt where I can take shots in the air,, I don't mind splitting costs for everything needed.
