The first custom bow string I remember buying was a Mountain Muffler string for my Blacktail recurve, but that was years ago. I thought he had gone out of business. I still have the string although I have since replaced it. It was a terrific string and still probably has a lot of life left in it.

Glad to know he is still making strings.

Thank you to everyone for the welcome - especially fellow string makers!

I've been personally using the raw wool mufflers to help stop the noise from recurve string slap since Robert had to stop production due to carpal tunnel several years ago. Couple years ago decided it was too good a system to not make available. I contacted Robert to see if he would mind me bringing it back. He not only said go for it, but to use the name as well!!

Mufflers are made with raw minimally processed wool straight from the fleece. Excellent for padding, aesthetics and it retains much of the natural lanolin for moisture resistance. Experimentation has shown the most effective placement is to start them near the end of the string groove where the string 1st loses contact with the limb with bow at at brace and run them about 2 inches toward the center. When ordering, please try to furnish this measurement - can vary quite a bit. They are served and built into the string with endless and added at the end with flemish. Round string silencers made from the same wool are available as well.

Of course the system starts with a well made string - either endless or flemish work equally well. I use BCY products exclusively and have BCY X, and 8190F for FF capable bows. B55 (endless only) for older non FF or those who prefer it. Adding the new Mercury and will have it on my site soon.

There is an additional option to the mufflers I will have available in the next few days I am really excited about - Bow Hush wool for recurve wraps!!!! Extremely effective bow silencer well proven in the last several years.

Any questions just hit me up.
Looking forward to what the future brings.

    :)
