exactly - forget the wind, just hunt! LOL  :)

In all seriousness, I wish they made a scentless smoke stick. nothing tells the wind like smoke.

Various fluff.  Milkweed. cattail, thistle, the fluffy bases of saddle hackle (I tie flys).  I store it in a pill bottle then before the hunt smear a pinch on my jacket.  Sticks pretty good to cotton, great to wool or fleece.

Then when I want to check I just pull a few fibers off the jacket.  No fumbling, no fuss.

Me too. I use a Catquiver III with the hip pack. I place the bottle in the smallest compartment in the pack. I can reach down with my right hand and pull out the bottle, open it with one hand, check the wind and put it back in,and never quit walking.

I'm also a fan of milk weed pod's! I have learned more about thermals from floating milk weed seeds then I could ever have imagined!

I also ALWAYS have a 6" piece of dental floss tied to my top serving.  I tie a single not in the floss, maybe 2-3" from the end.  This way the end frays but the rest doesn't and it sticks to the string less.  This system is awesome as you ALWAYS know.  Also, I sometimes use strands from brightly colored fly tying salmon egg yarn.  It floats and you can see it many many yards away, so you can actually track a wind current.
