How Do/Should I Remove Vanes From Carbon Arrows?

Need some help here...just purchased some carbon arrows and want to switch the vanes over to feathers.  What's the best way to do this without taking any of the carbon fibers off?  Thanks for your help in advance!

depends on what is was put on there with....super glue or something similar and your gonna leave a bit on the shaft....

First I try and rip them off then I use a dull pocket knife and scrape it off....DON'T DIG at the arrow shaft.

they sell tools to do it, but I never found one that worked any better then a pocket knife

Soak them in MEK or acetone.  It will even remove super glue. Just do it outside.

If you soak them in M.E K.or something else make sure you take off the nocks.Trust me on this one.Kip

I use a razor blade, just make sure you keep it a a very shallow angle. Get off as much as you can then sand with med/fine sandpaper.

Norway zipstrip works great.

I use a Vane Zipper and strip them just like stripping an aluminium shaft, you just have to be a bit more careful how much pressure you apply...

Like JJ stated,the zip strip is a great tool.No marring or digging in on the shaft.Takes a vane right off very quickly.

I use a serrated pocket knife blade. Apply a little pressure with the knife serration running down the vane. Works for me.    Glenn

I would think that MEK or some of the other chemicals may soften the resin the carbon is layed in.  It is probably an epoxy and both will attack epoxy

Same as ks_ stickbow,what doesn't rip off gets the pocket knife(carefully of course).

Best feather and vane stripper made........... your wife's potato peeler! Give it a try, you'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner! hahahaha...

Just don't let her catch you using it. It won't damage the carbon shaft and will make short work of the vanes!

I will cut the vane off close to the shaft then I'll run over the rest of the vane with a cigarette lighter to soften whats left.It's not hot enough to hurt the shaft but will make the vane soft as butter,easy to scrape without digging into the shaft.That is what has worked for me the easest.
