Best plunger for new to IFL?
« on: May 20, 2017, 09:46:00 PM »
I've recently picked up a good aluminum IFL riser to check them out. I want to try and shoot off the shelf with a plunger, but I've never used one before. Any suggestions as to which one to choose? If things go well with the bow, it will be used for hunting. Thanks.

Sir,
Plungers range in price from about $30.00 on up to $130.00 or so. I would go to lancaster.com and look at what they offer.

Trying to shoot off the shelf with a plunger can be a challenge or relatively easy. The challenge is getting the arrow diameter exactly in the center of the plunger and it also helps if the plunger is located directly above the deepest point of the grip. Best of luck with your quest.

I like the DAS shorty plunger from 3Rivers. The longer ones seem to caught on "stuff".

Get a spring loaded plunger, I wore out the stock plunger on my sky archery bow. I mean literal wear on the plunger and a rasping noise on the draw.

If i can remember, when I get home I'll show you something that a guy on *********** showed me that's not a plunger, but has the adjustability of one.

It's two screws that screw into the berger hole.  The first one you adjust the center shot and the second one you tighten it down on the back side to make sure the first one doesn't move.

If you are going to hunt with the bow put on a NAP Center rest and enjoy the ILF riser.  Simple, bullet proof and works great.  The shorty plunger sold by several distributors this is a good choice.

I have a Beiter on a target bow which I consider the Cadillac of plungers but the bow is not a hunting bow.

I have a shorty and shot about three strings worth of arrows through it and had no problems.

I have the Shorty Plunger on an ILF bow and like it a lot. The only negative is the tip will wear out quick when shooting carbon arrows. To prevent this, place mole skin or the likes on the tip.
